Until She Is Gone
by Jackie Renee Pope
How stupid can she be? She fell for you again,
knowing when it started it was surely going to end.
You could never give her all she needs,
but for your love her soul would bleed.
You broke her heart still she begged you to stay,
and you still walked out that hot summer's day.
Now you're back wanting to try this again,
you said you realized how stupid you've been.
Deep inside, she wants to trust you
and show you how true her love is,
her heart belongs to you, it could never be his.
She'll bear to you treasures untold,
you look at her and your future unfolds.
She sees right through the lies you tell,
she can take you to heaven, she can put you through hell.
She knows your love, but she's not the same,
because she'll be there
when there's no one else to take the blame.
Take care of her, though the days may seem long,
for you won't know what true love is until she is gone.
