Walking Alone by Isabel Caila Samuels

Walking Alone
by Isabel Caila Samuels

She continued walking
The pavement cool on her bare feet
And she was alone

She continued walking
The wind blew eerily
Through the dead corn stalks
And she was alone

Still she continued walking
A bright red stopsign
Seeming out of place
In her dark world
And she was alone

She continued walking
The bare trees reaching
For what was left of her heart
Leaved crunched beneath her feet
Destroyed by her touch
And she was alone

Yet, she continued walking
Walking alone
Through the dead corn
She continued walking
