Family
by Julie Leslie Thomas
Ease was not expected in this place I've never been
with so much left behind, andonly questions to be seen
Putting on another face
to look and listen and learn
so much to know, of this other place,
if home it is to turn
not a face to reconize,
and not a friend to call
But to have the family near,
somehow, surpasses all
Forgotten fun, refound
with friendships rediscovered
Despite the age and dust, still sound
What miles of land had covered.
Battling fear of the unkown,
with new hurdles to face
I know I don't have far to reach
a special place
It seems an age ago
before we went our seperate ways
so close and then so very far.
hanging onto what one says,
I plodded on, remaining
as you opted for a new life
weighing up my choices
untill I finally found it too.
After years of famialirity
If only then I'd known,
it's not there, where you were born
But where your family is, that's home.
